Background

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics is pleased to advertise one position for the role of Postdoctoral Research Fellow, as part of the ‘E-COOL' (A Holistic Approach for Electric Motor Cooling) project funded by the European Innovation Council. The role's main tasks are: (i) to measure the rheological and transport properties of non-Newtonian heat transfer liquids, (ii) to simulate the flow and thermal behaviour of heat transfer fluids of complex rheology using appropriate constitutive models.

Responsibilities

He or she will work closely with the principal investigator to ensure project deliverables and milestones are met in a timely manner, interact with the partners of the consortium to ensure smooth execution of inter-depending tasks, as well as play a role in raising the national and international profile of The Team by publishing articles in international journals and attending international conferences and workshops. The successful candidate will work closely with two additional Fellows recruited in the frame of ECOOL. to use on your advertisement.

Person Specification

The successful candidate must hold a good first degree and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Physics and have advanced understanding of experimental measurements for property characterisation and Computational Fluid Dynamics methodologies in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. Further familiarisation with rheological measurements and modelling of fluids of complex rheology (viscoelastic fluids) is highly desirable.
