WHO WE ARE
The California Institute for Biomedical Research (Calibr) is a not-for profit research institute located in La Jolla, California. Calibr is focused on innovative early stage translational research in collaboration with academic partners in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease.

THE POSITION
The California Institute for Biomedical Research (Calibr) is seeking talented Postdoctoral Fellow candidates to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on early stage translational research for tissue repair/remodeling. Postdoctoral Fellows will work as part of a team of scientists to identify and characterize small molecules or proteins that modulate novel biological pathways or processes and represent new therapeutic approaches to unmet medical needs. Research activities include design and completion of high throughput cell-based screens, stem/progenitor cell biology and targeted differentiation, and pre-clinical efficacy studies on the effects of novel compounds. Elucidation of biologically relevant targets/mechanisms of action and elaboration of compounds toward pre-clinical drug candidates is within the scope of work. Postdoctoral Fellows will publish their findings in high impact, peer-reviewed journals and be co-inventors on patents related to their work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in biology, pathology, physiology with demonstrated research excellence and multitasking ability
  • Extensive research experience in cell biology, in vivo and in vitro disease-modeling, immunology, stem cell biology or related setting. Previous postdoctoral experience is acceptable, but not required.
  • Experience with the culture of pluripotent or adult stem/progenitor cells desired
  • Experience in musculoskeletal, connective tissue, and cardiovascular disease research desired
  • Highly motivated, creative, and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work
  • Able to collaborate proficiently and communicate effectively with colleagues and management teams
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess a strong work ethic
