2-year postdoc fellowship in the group of Cardiac Functional Genomics
Copenhagen University
Department of Biomedical Sciences Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences University of Copenhagen Denmark
The group of Functional Genomics at the University of Copenhagen is looking for a highly motivated postdoc to work on atrial development, morphogenesis and function using the zebrafish model organism.
Candidate profile and project description
We are looking for a dedicated and driven postdoc, who has a keen interest in our field of research within the field of atrial form and function. You should have a keen interest in cardiac physiology. The postdoc recruited for this project will work on existing zebrafish mutants available in the lab, as well as generate new mutant and transgenic zebrafish models. The techniques used in the project will include both imaging techniques and more functional assays to assess cardiac form and function. Furthermore, the project will include CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, RNA sequencing (bulk and single cell), molecular biology methods, such as cloning and PCR, protein analysis and high-resolution imaging using confocal microscopy. An interest or previous experience in R-studio or Python is an advantage as well.
Research environment The newly started group of Functional Genomics is headed by assistant professor Pia Rengtved Lundegaard. We have a keen interest in the structure and function of the atrium, and to study this we use the zebrafish as a model organism. We study all aspects of development, morphogenesis and function of the heart, with a particular interest in the atrium. We have a keen interest in the form and function of the atrium in health and disease (Ahlberg et al. Nature Comms. 2018, Collins et al, PNAS 2019, Vad et al, JACC: Basic to Transnational Science, 2023). The group has a particular interest in how mutations in cytoskeletal genes of the cardiomyocyte influence the development and the function of the atrium, and how atrial dysfunction affects the structure and the function of the ventricle.
