with Research Task of
Mining Usability Data
Analytic Computing is a new team and the nucleus for a new Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Universität Stuttgart, Germany. The new institute is endowed by the Cyber Valley Initiative that funds and joins AI research at Universities of Stuttgart, Tübingen and the Max-Planck-Institute for Intelligent Systems. Our research interests include foundations of knowledge graphs, machine learning, natural language processing, intelligent user interfaces, as well as reflection on Web, AI and society.
We invite applications as researcher for a full-time position
PostDoc or PhD student (100% TV-L E13)
Your research will involve machine learning and data mining on eye-tracking data collected for usability analysis. The duration of the position is limited to 3 years.
What We Will Offer
We provide you with a friendly, but challenging interdisciplinary research environment and support your academic career towards accomplishing your Ph.D. or progressing with research publications (e.g. towards habilitation). You will become part of a dedicated team of 3 researchers in the field of eye tracking for intelligent interfaces. Beyond this core team, computer science at Universität Stuttgart is renowned for its work on intelligent user interfaces. We work together with 5 different research groups working on related topics and thus the position provides further opportunities for collaboration. You will work jointly with the team from EyeVido, which offers a commercial solution for collecting and analyzing user interaction data, and owns real-world data.
What You Will Contribute
Using machine learning and data mining on user interaction data (including eye tracking and speech), you will develop intelligent methods that will provide software developers with insights into the usability problems that their user interfaces exhibit. You will advise and tutor bachelor and master students in the computer and data science programs of the department in topics related to your research.
Salary
The salary amounts to German TV-L E13, which starts at approx. 50,000 Euro income per year (before taxation). The position is open as of September 1, 2020.
Requirements
Eligibility
Applicants for the position are required to have a MSc in computer science or related field. You should possess knowledge in machine learning and data mining. Experience with usability analysis and user interaction data is an advantage. Good social and communication skills are required.
