  We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a BHF funded project to investigate the molecular mechanisms that regulate the functions of platelets in thrombosis and haemostasis. The successful candidate will join the Reading Platelet Biology Group. The key aims of this group of >35 researchers is to develop a greater understanding of the control of platelets in health and disease, and to develop new approaches for the prevention or treatment of thrombotic disorders.

  In this project we will explore the mechanisms that allow gap junction proteins to control the functions of platelets. The successful candidate will also use a range of in vitro and in vivo techniques to study haemostasis and thrombosis.

  The position is for a fixed period of up to 15 months, and is available from 1st August.

  You will have: • A PhD in an appropriate area of the biomedical sciences • Expertise in cell and molecular biology research • Expertise in the use of mouse models of disease • Expertise in fluorescence microscopy • Knowledge of signal transduction • Ability to learn new techniques quickly and work independently • A proven track record through the publication of research • Good communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team • Preferably previous experience of cardiovascular or platelet research
