Do you have an established background in bioengineering or mechanical engineering? Do you want to further your career in one of the leading research intensive centres in the UK?
The project is called 3DMed and it scales up well-established, researcher- driven and strategic collaborations between University of Brighton (UoB), UK and York University (YU), Canada. The future collaboration will capitalise on the synergy between programmes of excellent research in engineering and biomedicine.
You will work to design and construct a new technology, based on the standard concept of a droplet generator, for the manufacturing of a personalised drug delivery system able to generate micro- or nano-pills. The main research challenge will be the achievement of a design enabling the injection and deposition of different fluids with different Newtonian and Non-Newtonian properties as well as the drug encapsulation in the forming pill.
You will engage with companies around the world and in particular in the UK and Canada to prepare research and technological bids to support the further development of the drug delivery system. There will be the opportunity to present at international conferences, and publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals are expected outcomes. You will contribute to identifying new grant opportunities and new industrial partners in order to make this research long term and successful.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to co-supervise the project’s PhD student at the University of Brighton, and be able to use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
This post is based in Brighton, however you will be required to visit York University (Canada) for at least 9 months during the 3 years of the contract (subject to visa requirements), schedules of visits can be arranged on appointment.
This post is on a part-time basis (0.80 full-time equivalent), fixed term for 3 years.
