Job Description
The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Conduct experiments; participate in planning and developing research protocols
Participate in planning and developing human and animal research protocols
Be updated on the relevant literature
Participate in lab meetings and journals clubs, give presentations, and prepare manuscripts on his /her findings for publications in close collaboration with the principal investigator
Share duties of the tissue bank
Provide support for laboratory infrastructure
Take the requested regulatory courses required by the University for people working in the lab
To have knowledge in work with RNA, DNA, protein, plasmids, cell transfection, FACS and other basic techniques
To have knowledge and experience in design, cloning, protein purification, protein interaction, library screening
Have basic knowledge in bioinformatics analysis of lymphoma data sets using standard analysis algorithms
Perform complex and routine molecular biology and other laboratory procedures such including western blot, immuno-precipitation, protein expression, PCR, cloning, apoptosis assays and handling sequencing data
Prepare publication-quality figures and otherwise contribute to generation and submission of manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, and other graphics software as needed
Writing reviews and book chapters along with the PI. Assisting the PI in writing grants for funding to the NIH and state agencies. Reviewing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. and/or MD required degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Life Science and/or other related field. Prefer two to four years of experience performing non-routine and complex laboratory duties requiring advanced technical skills and proficiency. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
