Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The laboratory of Dr. Zong Wei at Mayo Clinic is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in investigating the fundamental mechanisms and therapeutic development of diabetes and metabolic diseases. We are a new lab opening in 2020, in the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic. The Wei laboratory focuses on creating novel models to study diabetes and metabolism, and to identify therapeutic targets in metabolic diseases. Research directions include using both human stem cells differentiated organoids and mouse models to investigate the epigenomic regulation of cellular dysfunction in diabetes and metabolic diseases (Cell 2018, Cell Metabolism 2016, Cell Stem Cell 2015), and understanding the fundamental mechanisms in transcription and chromatin biology (Cell Stem Cell 2013).
Position Description:
Post-doctoral position is available for individual interested in metabolism, epigenetics, and/or stem cell biology. Research projects include characterization of novel phenotypes in animal models, integration of multi-omics (proteomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic, and epigenomic) datasets to investigate fundamental mechanisms of obesity and metabolic diseases, and exploring the therapeutic potential of basic discoveries. Experience in next-gen sequencing, mouse models, and/or stem cells is preferred but not required. Candidate should enjoy working independently in a collaborative setting. Successful candidates will have or are in the final stages of completing a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D. /Ph.D., or M.D.), a track record of productivity with peer-reviewed publications, and excellent communication skills. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV and contact information of 3 references to Zong Wei, Ph.D. at Wei.Zong@mayo.edu and the recruiter Ms. Lei Feng lei.feng@mayo.edu.
Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program.
