　　If you are working abroad as a post-doc or a visiting scholar, you may want to consider start your holidays shopping early on. It is a tradition to exchange gifts with your coworkers and friends, and Christmas is the busiest time of the year for department stores and shopping malls.

　　如果您在国外做博士后或者访问学者，那您可要早点开始购置“节”货。与同事或者朋友互换礼物是圣诞节的传统，而圣诞节又是各百货商店和购物商场最繁忙的时候。

　　Giving your supervisor a small gift is also not a bad idea although is not necessary. Coworkers who have good work relationships also tend to always exchange gifts. Not to mention your family and close friends, giving them gifts is a must. So join the fun and excitement of gift exchange and start shopping!

　　B: Hi, Merry Christmas to you too. Is this jacket on sale?

　　B: 您好，圣诞节快乐。这件夹克衫打折吗？

　　A: Let me check the tag please. Yes, it is ma’am. It belongs to our clearance section. This jacket in specific is 60% off. Our Christmas discount this year are huge.

　　A: 我看一下标价。对的，女士。这是我们的清仓打折区。这件夹克特价四折出售，今年圣诞节折扣非常大。

　　B: Nice, but since it is a designer brand, it’s still a bit expensive.

　　B: 真好，但是因为是品牌，尽管打折，还是有点贵。

　　A: Well, the original price was 1200 dollars, now you can take it for only 480 dollars, it’s a really good deal. Plus, for any consumption above 300 our store offers a 6-month credit interest-free for Visa, MasterCard and American Express. And for any consumption above 450 dollars our store is giving away some freebies and a 20% off coupon for future purchases.
