Three postdoctoral positions are available immediately for newly NIH-funded projects in Cardiovascular Biology and Regenerative Medicine in the laboratories of Drs. Susmita Sahoo, Jason Kovacic and Djamel Lebeche (one position in each lab) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY. In the Sahoo lab, the successful applicant will be involved in studies of the micro-communication mechanisms mediated by human stem cell-derived exosomes in heart failure and cardiac regeneration. Role of exosomal RNAs and receptor-mediated cell targeting in the signaling mechanisms of the heart will be studied. In the Kovacic lab, the successful applicant will be involved in studying the role and signaling mechanisms of endothelial to mesenchymal transition in vascular biology and particularly in adult vascular disease. This project involves a broad array of advanced techniques including leveraging systems genetics, and both small and large animal models. In the Lebeche lab, the successful candidates will join our studies focused on diabetes/metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disease and the underlying therapeutic mechanisms. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and experience in metabolic phenotyping and signaling. Previous research experience in cardiovascular sciences and or animal models of disease is highly desirable and will complement current research directions.

We are looking for individuals with a PhD or MD/PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular or Vascular Biology and experience in cell/tissue culture, high throughput genomics studies (RNA sequencing etc.), animal models and/or molecular biology. The candidate should be independent, self-motivated and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Appointments include a competitive salary and benefits, a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment with access to the Institute’s state-of-the-art facilities that includes genetics/genomics facilities, in vitro and in vivo imaging, flow cytometry and small and large animal surgical laboratories.
