GENOMICS & BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH
Currently seeking applications from POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW candidates for positions in the group of Dr. Julie Dunning Hotopp at the Institute for Genome Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Qualified candidates need to be independent, highly-motivated, and excellent writers. Currently funded projects focus on understanding bacterial DNA integrations in human cancer genomes, bacterial DNA integrations in other animal genomes, and the genomics of filarial nematodes.
Applicants should have demonstrated experience in applying laboratory and computational experimental approaches to generate and analyze large datasets. The ideal applicants must have experience in genomics and/or bioinformatics with a background in microbiology, cancer biology, parasitology, and/or molecular evolution. The qualified candidate will have a doctoral degree in Microbiology, Genetics, Evolution, Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience with statistical analyses and/or programming in Perl, Python, C/C++ and R is desired, but not required.
Postdoctoral fellows at IGS benefit from a community of interactive research labs, bioinformatics experts and a variety of state of the art sequencing, and computational resources in a world-class institute dedicated to basic and translational genomic-based research.
To apply, please send a CV, cover letter, and contact information for three references to Dr. Julie Dunning Hotopp (jdhotopp@som.umaryland.edu).
