The Role
Free-thinking. Collaborative. Innovative. Kingston University is yours to transform. This is your chance to help enhance the quality of life of people with dementia who live at home as you undertake collaborative research in end of life care. The research will address a topical, unexplored subject: the views and experiences of home care workers in end of life care for people with dementia. Ambitious, enthusiastic and flexible, you will be involved in both phases of research: 1) conduct a literature review and 2) to conduct interviews with 40 home care workers and analyse the data.
The Person
You will have a research interest in social care research and a post-graduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience. You will be self-motivated, ambitious, enthusiastic, and flexible and have the ability to work independently. We would require the successful candidate to have a good knowledge of qualitative research methods and an appreciation of the ethical challenges of working in this area. You will be required to also assist with the literature review. We require the successful candidate to have exceptional (verbal and written) communication and organisational skills to liase with managers of home care agencies and arrange interviews with busy and ‘hard-to-reach’ home care staff at junior, senior levels or experts by experience. Data collection will take place in a variety of locations across Surrey and Greater London, so candidates should be willing to work flexible hours and to travel frequently during the period of data collection. Ability to work independently and taking the initiative, you will have excellent organisation and time management skills.
