摘要:

Postdoctoral Fellow in Enzyme Evolution : Dunedin, New Zealand

A postdoctoral position is available with Dr. Wayne Patrick, in the University of Otago’s Laboratory for Enzyme Engineering and Evolution. Our group aims to address major evolutionary questions from a biochemical perspective [1,2].

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. Your research will focus on using rational design and directed evolution to alter the activities of enzymes from a number of bacterial metabolic pathways. You will characterize the evolved enzymes in vitro and in vivo. Thus, your research will offer insights into the mechanistic enzymology and evolution of these proteins.

Applicants must have a PhD in Biochemistry or a related discipline, and experience working with enzymes is essential. Preference will be given to applicants with skills in any or all of directed evolution, enzymology and experimental evolution in bacteria.

The appointment is for an initial period of 2 years, although this could be extended contingent on performance and ongoing grant funding. The successful applicant will be expected to take up the position before April, 2016. The current starting salary for a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Otago is $74,046.
