摘要:

Postdoctoral Position in Pain Research : Bethesda, MD, United States

A postdoctoral position to study the mechanisms underlying the modulation of pain by the amygdala is available immediately in the Carrasquillo Lab at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).

The selected candidate will join a recently established and growing interdisciplinary research program focused on identifying the anatomical (circuit), molecular, and cellular mechanisms of pain processing and modulation by the amygdala. We combine mouse behavioral models with anatomical, histological, chemogenetic, optogenetic and electrophysiological approaches.

Located on the NIH Bethesda campus within one of the most active neuroscience communities in the world (neuroscience.nih.gov), the position offers exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with a diverse group of investigators with a wide range of interests relative to the study of pain. The laboratory is housed in the Porter Neuroscience Research Center, with new state-of-the-art biomedical research facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS/ELIGIBILITY: Applicants should have less than 3 years of relevant research experience since their receipt of a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in the biomedical sciences and at least 1 year of experience performing behavioral experiments and stereotaxic surgeries in mice. Experience with mouse models of pain and/or affective behaviors or using neuroanatomical tracers, chemogenetic or optogenetic approaches would be a plus. Other requirements include strong laboratory, analytical, and organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication skills in English; and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
