Job Description
• Exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in a leading scientific organisation
• Join an internationally recognised, multi-disciplinary team
• Obtain experience, master hands-on skills, and build world-class expertise
The Position:
CSIRO offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their scientific careers through our Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) Postdoctoral Fellowships. Successful applicants will work with leaders in the field of science and receive personal development and learning opportunities.
This OCE Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity is within the Manufacturing Flagship, within a multi-disciplinary team led by the Science Leader of the Office of Chief Executive, Professor K. Ostrikov. As the Postdoctoral Fellow, you will develop and exploit novel, effective and time-efficient techniques to characterise and print the graphene inks and will be responsible for the synthesis, characterisation, and device testing of the printed energy devices, specifically supercapacitors.
The successful applicant will be required to intermittently travel to the Energy Storage Devices and Printed Electronics Laboratories at Clayton, Victoria to prepare devices from the inks.
Your duties will include:
• Under guidance, develop printable graphene inks from chemical or plasma synthesized graphenes.
• Investigate and test the performance of printed supercapacitors using the inks.
• Communicate the outputs of the studies in the form of high quality scientific publications, conference papers and talks.
• Contribute to the development of innovative concepts and ideas for further research.
• Undertake CSIRO’s postdoctoral training program.
Location: Lindfield, NSW
Salary: AUD$78k to $88k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: 3 year term
Ref no: NSW15/01154
To be successful you will have:
• A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as materials science or other relevant chemical or engineering disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience and practical knowledge in graphene synthesis, functionalisation and fabrication of graphene-based devices.
• Demonstrated research experience in fabrication and performance evaluation of energy storage devices, in particular supercapacitors.
• Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills combined with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Owing to terms of the fellowship, candidates must not have more than 3 years of relevant Postdoctoral experience.
