The post will involve chemical synthesis and characterization of a library of saccharides that will be tested for their mucolytic properties by collaborators at UCSF and spray-drying properties by collaborators at Trinity College Dublin. For promising drug candidates their syntheses will be optimized, both considering yields and efficiency of purification followed by a scaling up of syntheses of selected compounds and large-scale production a lead compound.

This appointment may be made at either Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2 depending on the qualifications and experience of the recommended candidate.
