The Laboratory of Cardiovascular Research at CRP-Santé focuses on the discovery of novel cardiac biomarkers.
A fully-funded 2-years postdoctoral position is available for a researcher bearing a PhD degree.
His/her research project will focus on the discovery of novel microRNAs to be used as prognostic biomarkers after cardiac arrest.

The following activities and responsibilities are in collaboration with the Principal Investigator of the project at CRP-Santé (Dr Yvan Devaux):

- Coordinate the day by day activities of a bi-annual project
- Prepare the strategic planning of the research
- Provide specific expertise in relevant research areas (RNA sequencing, quantitative PCR, biomarkers, microRNAs)
- Manage the research project in collaboration with the other project partners
- Design and execute experiments as required by the project
- Write scientific articles for peer-reviewed international journals
- Develop scientific methodology and techniques adapted to the research project
- Train and supervise the technical staff, master students, PhD students
- Work in coordination with other lab staff
- Contribute to defining research priorities
- Present the work as well as results during laboratory meetings and at national/international meetings
- Communicate problems and suggestions for solutions in a clear way
- Participate in the societal dimension: dissemination of simplified research results to the general public (through articles, conferences, etc)

Diploma, Scientific competence, Work experience needed:

- PhD in biomedical research, biochemistry or related field
- The candidate should have a strong background in RNA biology or RNA sequencing
- Scientific experience in one or more of the following fields would be an asset: next generation sequencing (e.g. Illumina technology), RNA-seq, genomics, microRNAs, noncoding RNAs, brain and cardiac biomarkers.
- Excellent time management, rigor, motivation, scientific creativity and originality, writing skills, conciseness, sense of priority and sense of human relations, punctual and reliable
- A strong academic record and a keen interest/knowledge in cardiovascular research and in state of the art molecular techniques for biomarker discovery
- Excellent proficiency in English and scientific writing skills are a must
- Knowledge of statistics and computing skills; bioinformatics skills would be an asset
