The Role

Applications are invited for a 9 month Postdoctoral research scientist position in the field of immunology in the Institute of Immunology in NUI, Maynooth, Ireland. The successful applicant will be joining the research group led by Dr Marion Butler, and the research aims to explore immune signalling pathways that are deregulated in Multiple Sclerosis at the molecular level. The candidate must have a strong signalling background.

The candidate must have strong molecular biology experience with technical capabilities in techniques including Real-Time PCR, ELISAs, transfection, Western blots, co-immunoprecipitation. Cloning experience and lentiviral work will be an advantage.

Be able to work independently, have strong technical problem solving skills, and is expected to supervise 4th year undergraduate students in the lab and to provide technical guidance to other junior lab members.

The person must be well organised in both lab work plans and data management, be able to critically analyse results and show initiative in designing next stage experiments.

The person is expected to meet project time-lines and to help manage the efficient running of the lab together with the supervisor.

The position has been funded by the Health Research Board and is available immediately.
