摘要:

The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 2,700 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.

The Division of Molecular Genome Analysis is seeking a

Postdoc (m/f)
(Ref.-No. 114/2014)

Description:
The Division of Molecular Genome Analysis at the DKFZ aims to contribute to the elucidation of the complex molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development, metastasis, and drug response.

With a focus on human breast cancer, we follow a dual approach that combines the analysis of clinical samples with a systems biology approach to characterize drug impact on cellular signaling. This project will focus on the molecular characterization of breast cancer with low or moderate expression of the receptor tyrosine kinase HER2.

Clinical samples obtained from patients with early breast cancer or metastatic breast cancer will be analyzed using reverse phase protein arrays (RPPA), as platform for targeted proteomics. Immunoassays will be carried out in addition to quantify receptor tyrosine kinase ligands in clinical specimens. In vitro experimentation will focus on characterizing cellular impact of new therapeutic antibodies that were designed to interfere with EGFR/ERBB receptor-mediated signaling. Thus, perturbation experiments will present the basis to identify qualified biomarker signatures to improve treatment concepts for breast cancer patients. In vitro experimentation as well as the analysis of clinical samples involve a close collaboration with mathematicians and bioinformaticians. This highly interdisciplinary project is funded by the BMBF e:med initiative and aims to deliver validated biomarker signatures to treat patients with HER2-low breast cancer.

Your profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a vivid interest in analyzing signaling networks and in bringing in vitro-concepts to clinical application. Applicants should have graduated in a life science subject and should have a strong background in cell biology and the analysis of cellular signaling networks. Additional experiences in handling of clinical samples, microdissection and/or immunohistochemistry, large-scale data analysis as well as programming skills and/or R-language knowledge would be a plus. The candidate should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment and should be driven to take responsibility for the success of his/her project.

Please send a complete application including cover letter, curriculum vitae, high school diploma, university diploma, PhD certificate, thesis summary and provide contact information for two references via the DKFZ online application system.

The position is limited until May 31, 2017.
The position can in principle be part-time.

The German Cancer Research Center is committed to increase the percentage of female scientists and encourages female applicants to apply. Among candidates of equal aptitude and qualifications, a person with disabilities will be given preference.

We ask for your understanding that we cannot return application documents that are sent to us by post (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, Personal- und Sozialwesen, Im Neuenheimer Feld 280, 69120 Heidelberg) and that we do not accept applications submitted via email. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
