Job Description
The Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) is seeking for a Neuroscience/Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research on a clinical trial which includes cognitive assessment in a selected number of patients and performing proteomics and genomics studies on biological samples collected from these individuals.
This is a regular, full time (40 hrs/wk), exempt position.
PAVIR is a nonprofit foundation affiliated with the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). As a condition of employment, all PAVIR employees are required to have an approved Without Compensation (WOC) appointment with VAPAHCS and complete a background check before they can commence work.
Duties:
Perform computerized and non-computerized cognitive testing in people with dementia and also healthy individuals;
Analyze data for tests;
Perform ELISA measurements on biological samples;
Prepare manuscripts for publication.
Requirements:
EDUCATION: Ph.D. or M.D. in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, or related field;
Proven knowledge in the field of human neuropsychology;
Experience working in a wet laboratory;
Advanced knowledge of scientific research methodology in order to develop procedures and criteria for research program;
Attention to detail and good organizational skills;
Knowledge in statistics;
Experience working with ELISA and HPLC;
Experience with the Cantab cognitive assessment is a plus.
Environmental Conditions / Physical Demands:
Physical: Standing or bending for long periods of time, lifting 5 lbs, repetitive movements
Environmental: Exposure to wet lab environment, bloodborne pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals or reagents
