Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Researcher

Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Bioinformatics Postdoctoral researcher within the Department of Oncology. You will join the Applied Computational Genomics group, a research Bioinformatics group working at the interface between genomics, imaging and biomarkers in cancer. Your duties will include performing methodological research and developing tools to integrate genomic, clinical and other molecular/functional data. You will implement and evaluate research methods and algorithms for bioinformatics analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data. You will also research, generate, collate and evaluate data; and write and/or contribute to production of research reports and publications for peer reviewed journals. You will have a PhD or equivalent experience in relevant area, as well as excellent programming experience with one or more of the following: Python, C++, Java, PERL. Previous research experience in bioinformatics/computing is essential, as is experience in Javascript programming or other GUI development technology. You will also have excellent understanding of unix and shell scripting, plus demonstrable software development experience. This is a full-time post and is fixed-term for 1 year in the first instance.
