Two Postdoctoral fellow positions are available to work in the vibrant, joint laboratory of Drs. Paul Dawson and Saul Karpen. The lab is focused on studying the gut-liver axis, including the roles for nuclear receptors, bile acids, lipid metabolism, obesity, microbes, and adaptation to inflammation and cholestasis. Projects include the clinically relevant exploration of novel therapeutics.
The Postdoctoral fellowships will focus on providing cutting-edge training and are expected to generate high-impact publications. The successful candidates will design and conduct research using cell and mouse models of metabolic, intestinal and hepatic disease. Advanced training provided by the designated Principal Investigator will include development of the professional skills and research independence needed to pursuit their career. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
