丹麦奥尔胡斯大学动物育种、定量遗传学博士后职位
A postdoc position in optimization of genomic selection in breeding programs for broilers is available at the Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG) at Aarhus University.
QGG holds considerable experience in using and developing methods for stochastic simulation of breeding programs for complex traits in animals and plants and in the analysis of complex traits in genomic studies. The position provides excellent possibilities for contributing to and use of state-of-the-art simulation tools, large scale datasets from commercial genomic selection programs, method development, and collaboration with commercial partners. The position is available for two years from October 1st 2014, with the possibility of extension.
Aim of project
The post doc will work on optimizing broiler breeding programs using complex stochastic simulation models. The breeding programs will rely on genomic selection as a tool to maximize response to selection and to select for traits that are difficult to record on many
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in animal breeding, quantitative genetics, quantitative genomics or related fields
- Strong interest in use of stochastic and deterministic simulation tools to study and optimize genomic selection programs for complex traits
- Proficiency in conducting large scale computations
- Good understanding of methods used in genomic prediction and selection for complex traits in commercial populations
- Good communication skills in oral and written English
- Ability to work in a large and diverse group of researchers, and collaborate with both international research partners and commercial partners
