The two available projects in the laboratory include 1) genetic predisposition to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 2) selective targeting of TGF-beta in airway disease in murine and human models. These projects encompass a wide spectrum of basic and translational scientific approaches with the ultimate goal of identifying and validating targets that may offer therapeutic benefit in patients.
Desirable qualifications include: (1) recently earned MD and/or PhD degree(s) in areas of the biological sciences relevant to this research (such as biochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular biology, immunology); (2) a strong background in transcriptional regulation, human genetics, antibody engineering and/or mouse models of disease; (3) demonstrated productivity in graduate work; (4) the ability to write competitive scientific grants that will procure funding for the applicant during the postdoctoral fellowship; (5) the ability to work long and flexible hours in order to accomplish these goals; (6) and fluency in English and interpersonal skills required to meet collaborative research goals.
