摘要:

The Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute- DOE JGI (a division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab) has an exciting Postdoctoral Research opportunity available to work on the development of a multipurpose automated platform for Synthetic Biology research.  This will include development of microfluidics hardware, electronic controllers, software for laboratory automation. Will also be involved in the development of new technologies of DNA synthesis and creation of new synthetic metabolic pathways for biofuel and natural products production in E.coli, Cyanobacteria and other hosts. In addition, will work on the development of biochemical assays for monitoring of biofuels and natural products production and adaptation of these assays for microfluidics environment.

Specific Duties Essential • Fabrication of Microfluidics chips. • Development of control software. • Optimization of DNA synthesis biochemistry. • Adaptation of functional assays for microfluidics platform. • Construction of metabolic pathways. • Small scale fermentation. • Analysis of fermentation products.

Marginal • Keep an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook. • Summarize experiment results in reports and papers submitted for publication and present analysis results at scientific meetings. • Attend and present data at group meetings.

Qualifications Essential • PhD in Biology, and Computer Science, or related field. • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and programing languages. • Experience with bioinformatics and laboratory automation. • Knowledge of programing, electronics, molecular biology, biogeochemistry and physics.

Preferred • Experience with microfluidic technology. • Familiar with DNA synthesis methods. • Databases management. • Web-based programing.

NOTE: This is a 1 year appointment with the possibility of renewal dependent on performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. Work will be performed at the DOE Joint Genome Institute (JGI), located in Walnut Creek, CA.
