摘要:

Introduction
A two-year position is available in the Urban Water Engineering Section at DTU Environment for an Experienced Researcher within the topic of Molecular Environmental Microbiology.

The fellowship is funded as part of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) MERMAID – Microbial Resource Management for Closing the Urban Water Cycle, which is funded by EU-FP7 People. The aim of MERMAID is to provide research training in the emergent area of Microbial Resource Management and Engineering to close the Urban Water Cycle. The project considers microbial communities present in the urban water cycle as valuable resources that can be steered and exploited to produce, maintain, and deliver high quality water in an energy efficient way. The successful candidate will join a strong research network comprising 13 PhD fellows with the opportunity to cooperate across countries and sectors, in a stimulating scientific environment.

Responsibilities and tasks
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible to conduct a research project with the aim of comparing molecular tools to describe taxonomic and physiological community compositions and assess their informative content. This will require both conducting experimental work, performing bioinformatics analysis, and collaborating with scientists across the ITN.
The successful candidate will also contribute to teaching at DTU Environment and actively participate in the ITN activities (e.g., knowledge exchange, outreach).

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

Candidates must be eligible according to the Marie-Curie recruitment guidelines for Experienced Researchers, i.e. they cannot have resided or carried out their main activity in Denmark for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment and must have maximum 5 years of full time research experience, measured from the time they completed their Masters.

Further qualifications:

  • Demonstrated laboratory experience in environmental molecular microbiology
  • Demonstrated experience with bioinformatic tools for diversity assessment of microbial communities
  • A significant record of publications in microbial ecology/environmental microbiology
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate in multi-partners network

We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility.
