摘要:
Ucar Lab (http://research.jax.org/faculty/duygu-ucar.html or http://ucarduygu.wix.com/ucar-lab) at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine is seeking highly motivated computational scientists. The Ucar Lab is a computational biology lab specializing in developing data mining algorithms to study the mechanisms of transcriptional gene regulation and its dynamics by utilizing diverse genomics and epigenomics data.
The ideal candidate will:
• Possess a Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, physics, electrical engineering,
• Have a proven track record and enthusiasm for conducting research in genomics and/or epigenomics
• Be eager to learn new methods and science
• Be able to learn and work independently, yet collaborate effectively with colleagues
• Be familiar with Data Mining/ Machine Learning techniques
• Have experience in developing and applying statistical packages in R and/or Matlab.
• Have programming experience in Unix (preferentially experience in a scripting language (Perl/Python) and an object oriented language (C++/Java/Python))
Fellows will be joining the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Connecticut, which is a new institute dedicated to employ genomics to improve human health in a collaborative effort between the Jackson Laboratory (based in Bar Harbor, ME) and the state of Connecticut. The Jackson Laboratory, established in 1929 in Bar Harbor, ME, is a non-profit independent research institution with a proud history of innovative biomedical research. The laboratory is driving progress in the new era of genomic medicine with the development of its new institute, Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, as part of a $1.1 billion new venture. The new institute is based in Farmington, CT in the Hartford metropolitan area and provides a unique environment for inter-disciplinary and multi-cultural interactions. Hartford is a lively metropolitan area and is within a two-hour drive to both Boston and New York City. The successful candidates are required to live and work in Connecticut with potential visits and training opportunities at the Bar Harbor, Maine campus.
