Post-doctoral research position in super-resolution imaging of mechanotransduction in cell adhesion : Barcelona, Spain
ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, a centre based in Barcelona (Spain), devoted to research and education of the optical and photonic sciences at the highest international level, is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be part of an emerging project carried out in collaboration between the Single Molecule Biophotonics group led by Dr. Maria Garcia Parajo and the Advanced Fluorescence Imaging and Biophysics group led by Dr. Melike Lakadamyali. The highly multidisciplinary project will combine knowledge in super-resolution microscopy, single molecule imaging and mechanobiology of the immune cells.
The successful candidate will develop cutting-edge tools to study how the adhesion receptors of the immune cells sense and respond to mechanical stimulus by changing their nanoscale organization and dynamics.
REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in physics, biophysics, or related fields. The candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in experimental research. Positively valued will be experience in optics, single molecule biophysics and computer programming (ImageJ, Matlab, C++, LabView etc.).
No restrictions of citizenship or gender apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.
The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to three years.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The formal application should be submitted online via http://jobs.icfo.es/index.php?detail=153.
Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
- Curriculum Vitae, including contact details,
- The contact e-mail of three potential referees.
Candidates should be willing to be contacted by phone during the selection process.
