A postdoctoral position in neuroscience is available immediately at the University of Kansas Medical Center to study the role of neuronal gap junctions in neuronal death following ischemia. This project is related to our recent work published in Trends in Neurosciences, 36 (4): 227-36, 2013. Successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree and strong experiences with middle cerebral artery occlusion model of ischemia in mice, rodent behavior tests, immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy. Experience with molecular biology (plasmid and viral transfection, real-time PCR; DNA isolation, immunoblotting, co-immunoprecipitation) is a plus.
