Dr. Don Sodora is an Associate Professor at Seattle Biomedical Research Institute (Seattle BioMed). The Sodora Lab is focused on understanding HIV-induced pathogenesis and transmission. The laboratory utilizes both HIV infection of patients and SIV infection of different monkey models to achieve this goal.
A fully supported postdoctoral scientist position is currently available in the Sodora Lab. The successful candidate will be involved in studying one of two projects. Project #1 will assess the factors that contribute to mother-to-child transmission of HIV/SIV, focusing on the influence of vaccine responses and immune inflammation. Project #2 will evaluate the contribution of liver macrophages (Kupffer cells) as drivers of the immune activation and disease progression observed during HIV/SIV infection. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Immunology. Additional expertise in Virology is an advantage.
