The University of Surrey is an international university with a world-class research profile and an enterprising spirit. Inventive and forward-thinking, our heritage shows a recurring theme of doing things differently – and achieving notable results.
Within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the School of Biosciences and Medicine, the Urological Oncology group headed by Prof Hardev Pandha is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary group that focuses on both basic and translational research in urological cancers. Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral research fellow to work under the supervision of Dr Richard Morgan on the discovery of novel biomarkers for bladder cancer under a European Union Framework 7 funded project called DIPROMON (Multimodular biomarker analysis workflow for the DIagnosis, PROgnosis and MONitoring of drug treatment response in bladder cancer).
Applicants should have well developed research skills with extensive expertise in common molecular and cell biology techniques, cell signalling, as well as murine models of cancer. The post-holder will be expected to write grant proposals, to communicate effectively with funding bodies and potential collaborators in the DIPROMON consortium, and to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of his or her own research activities. The post-holder will also be expected to participate in the Department’s teaching activities and to work well as a member of a team that thrives on mutual support.
Our benefits package includes substantial holiday allowance, relocation assistance where appropriate, childcare and leisure facilities.
