Company Information: The Quantitative Biomedical Research Center (QBRC) at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) was established in 2010, with the aim of fostering the development and application of quantitative methods and technologies for biomedical research, particularly for studying disease etiologies and developing novel strategies for disease treatment and prevention. Currently, the center has seven faculty members, several staff members, postdocs and student research assistants. We are actively looking for talented scientists to join this new and dynamic group.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Duties & Responsibilities: The incumbent’s research will focus on developing computational tools for visualizing and analyzing large scale pharmacogenomics and toxicogenomics data. A major objective is to identify genetic markers and chemical properties that are predictive of individuals’ responses to a specific drug compound. This position involves close interaction with toxicologists, biomedical investigators and bioinformaticians from different departments of UTSW.

Position Qualifications: Candidates for this position should hold a doctoral degree in Computational Chemistry/Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field. Knowledge of computational chemistry and cheminformatics methodologies (including similarity searching, QSAR, docking) is highly preferred. Familiarity with machine learning techniques and one commonly used coding language, such as R, S-Plus, SAS, or Matlab is also desired. Candidates are expected to have excellent organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
