Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the University of Oxford Psychological Medicine Research group. Our multidisciplinary research team is led by Professor Michael Sharpe and carries out research at the interface of psychiatry/psychology and medicine. The post is funded for 2 years by the Oxford CLAHRC and is based in our research offices at Sobell House Hospice (Churchill Hospital) and the Department of Psychiatry (Warneford Hospital).
We use a variety of methods including systematic reviews, epidemiological studies, qualitative interviews and analyses, observational studies, intervention development and randomised controlled trials.
The postholder will have or be working towards the completion of a PhD in Psychology, Psychological Medicine or another relevant area and will work closely with the senior researchers in our group, who will provide training and supervision. We are looking for someone with basic expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research.
There will be the opportunity to work on one or more of a number of ongoing studies including: the psychological care of general hospital inpatients, depression and anxiety in cancer and palliative care and measuring the effects of integrated psychological medicine in acute hospitals. Applicants should be comfortable working with patients who are medically unwell as well as with clinicians from a variety of professional backgrounds.
