Your Job:
You will be part of the team mentioned above, and will contribute to the analysis of application-oriented and operational data of our HPC systems supporting the development of the tools used in this context, enhancing the existing infrastructure in preparation for JUPITER.
The main tasks of your position:
Leverage your technical knowledge of Data Science by analysing monitoring, application-focused, and operational data
You bring in new analysis perspectives through advanced statistical method
Analyse complex data sets, structure information from various sources, derive clear findings from them and generate clear visualisation of the results
Coordinate with our project partners in a deeply intertwined project setup, involving a large team of system software and application developers
Additional possibility to extend and analyse the results of regular benchmarks of our production and prototype systems and its software stack using synthetic benchmarks and application codes
Identify optimisation potential, with focus on architecture-specific strategies aiming at scaling and/or performance improvements
Address user questions, provide HPC support
Present/publish results in collaboration meetings, workshops and conferences
Your Profile:
Master degree in Technomathematics or in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or natural science or equivalent degree
Experience with advanced statistical/mathematical methods to analyse large data sets
Comprehensive experience with HPC system usage, parallel/distributed computing, as well as diverse architectures and understanding of its impact on application performance
Firm experience in the usage of Unix-based operating systems
Programming and modern software engineering skills (SQL, Git, Python, Perl, JavaScript, HTML+CSS, etc.)
Self-motivated personality with very good command of written/spoken English
Great ability to work in a multidisciplinary team of scientists with heterogeneous backgrounds solving scientifically challenging problems on large computers
Desirable: Knowledge in standard HPC programming (C/C++, Fortran, MPI, OpenMP, GPU programming, etc.)
Experience supporting application developers
German language is an advantage

You will be initially employed for a fixed term of 2 years but with the prospect of longer-term employment. Salary and social security benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group 13, depending on your current qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to you.
