Postdoctoral Position in Cell Biology

Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Job Description

The Department of Cell Biology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions from outstanding candidates with an interest and expertise in fundamental cell and molecular biological research in a variety of areas, including computational biology. We are seeking innovative applicants with a bold vision and demonstrated excellence in research, to complement the diverse research programs within the department.

The Department of Cell Biology at Einstein was one of the first in the country (founded in 1961) and has a rich and distinguished history of scientific discovery and innovation, as well as mentoring, training, and education. It consistently ranks among the top 10 in the nation in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and in the top 5 in NIH funding per investigator. Einstein possesses outstanding research faculty and enjoys an exceptionally collegial and collaborative environment. Our department has very strong ties to other basic science departments, institutes, and centers at Einstein, as well as clinical departments at Montefiore Medical Center. For more information please visit our departmental website: https://www.einsteinmed.edu/departments/cell-biology/

Candidates will be considered for postdoc position. Einstein seeks candidates whose skills and personal and professional experience have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence in research, diversity, collaboration, and to the communities we serve.

The selected candidate will join Dr. Skoultchi’s lab. https://einsteinmed.edu/departments/cell-biology/faculty/arthur-skoultchi/research.html

Mammalian Epigenomics, Chromatin Structure and Function, Cancer

A postdoctoral position is available at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. Arthur Skoultchi, Judith and Burton P. Resnick Chair.

The goal is to understand the roles of H1 linker histones in chromatin structure and function, gene regulation and cancer. We have prepared a unique series of knock-out mice and ES cell lines lacking specific H1 histones. Our studies have revealed roles for H1 histones in gene regulation, the epigenetic landscape, nuclear organization and blood cancers:

Yusufova et al. Nature 589:299 (2021)

Healton et al. PNAS 117:14251 (2020)

Seeking an accomplished individual with a strong background in cell and molecular biology. Experience working with mouse embryonic stem cells is a plus. However, in the selection of candidates we will emphasize overall scientific abilities and potential rather than specific experience or technical expertise. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and possess strong independent research abilities with ambitious scientific interests, self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with a team. Successful candidates will be offered a salary exceeding NIH guidelines ($65,000-$75,000 depending on experience) and generous benefits, including College-subsidized postdoctoral housing in a pleasant residential neighborhood near the medical school. To apply, please send a CV with a brief description of research experience and career goals, plus contact information for three references to:
