About This Opportunity
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Officer will be involved in experimental design and execution to characterise ablator materials in a high- speed and/or high-temperature flow environment.
With this opportunity you will develop capabilities in combined experimental approaches for assessing fluid/surface response interactions in a high- temperate gas environment. The main purpose is to develop an Australian experimental capability in experimental characterisation of ablator materials for high-speed flight applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research
Design experiments to characterise ablator material responses in a high-temperature gas environment.
Supervise and manage the execution of ablator material testing in world- class facilities.
Produces quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.
Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.
Supervision and Researcher Development
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Citizenship and Service
Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values.
Shows leadership of self through collaboration and active participation in priority activities for the unit.
Provide support to other academic positions and unit operations as needed during other team members absences.
Begin to develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to mid-March 2025. At Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324.85 - $102,945.12, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470.08 - $120,445.79 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You
Completion or demonstrated progression towards completion of a PhD in the discipline area.
Demonstrated competence in: - designing experiments for high-speed/high-temperature flow environments. - performing experiments and associated measurement calibration. - analysis and documentation of results from experiments.
Ability and willingness to: - publish in high quality outlets. - supervise honours and/or Higher Degree by Research students. - participate in coursework teaching activities. - promote and adhere to a positive safety culture.
Demonstrated: - high level of drive and enthusiasm. - high level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. - commitment to UQ's values.
In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:
Australian Citizenship: It is a requirement of this position that the applicant is an Australian citizen.
AGSVA Clearance: It is a requirement of this position that the applicant is eligible and willing to apply for security clearances as required by the project activities.
