Position Summary
The University of North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center (NC OSHERC) is a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center, located at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. NC OSHERC Targeted Research Training (TRT) Program has an opening for a post-doctoral fellowship position for an individual interested in pursuing advanced research training in occupational health and safety, with a special focus on inhalation and skin exposures, biomarker discoveries and analyses, gene-environment interactions, computational toxicology, and pharmacokinetic/toxicokinetic modelling. This is a full-time position for a maximum of two years.
The post-doctoral candidate is expected to be familiar with conducting computational toxicology, pharmacokinetic/toxicodynamic/transport modelling, and gene-environment interaction studies. Prior training and experience in the use of R or Python are required. Training will be interdisciplinary and focused on the trainee's specific needs, including mentored research experience under senior researchers in interdisciplinary research and participation in seminars. Duties include data collection and analysis, publishing in the peer-reviewed literature, participating in seminars and workgroups, and collaborating on research grant applications. Training may also include didactic coursework, depending on training goals and needs. Opportunities for teaching may also be available.
