Overview:

  Full-time, 12 months Fixed Term Contract

  Salary Academic Level B + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About You The Post-doctoral Research Fellow role is to be employed as part of the Australia's trade and the threat of autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles supported by the Australian Government, Department of Defence.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellows will be working to deliver the research outcomes. The Postdoctoral Research Fellows will be expected to engage in high quality research outcomes to achieve the project outcomes.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellows will focus on aspects of the following areas:

  Undertake research and analyse trends in relation to autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs).

  Assist in the Development of scenarios relating to autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles and their impact upon Australian seaborne trade and trade routes.

  Evaluate the impact of these scenarios on the security and resilience of  Australian seaborne trade activities.

  Develop policy recommendations for Defence and Australia Government to protect Australian maritime trade.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellows is further required to undertake research activities in line with the Project requirements.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  Experience working in a Defence Strategy related role, with exposure to policy writing would be advantageous.

  Knowledge, experience or a deep curiosity of unmanned underwater vehicles and cyber security from a technical perspective or organisational perspective.

  Strong analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to write policy and academic reports.

  Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in the a relevant subject area, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.

  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
