瑞典歌德堡大学神经化学方向博士后职位
Job Description
At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Neurochemistry, at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
At the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, neurochemical research is focused on identifying and studying pathophysiology and pathologies in neurodegenerative diseases.
Subject area
Neurochemistry.
Subject area description
Pathological features of Alzheimer's disease include aggregation of specific peptides and proteins in the brain. Today, there are three biomarkers, measured in spinal fluid, that are used to diagnose Alzheimer's disease, but these can only be used quite late in the course of the disease and they have a relatively large overlap between sick and healthy. Thus, we need new markers that reflect different disease mechanisms in order to make an early and safe diagnosis.
Job assignments
The job assignments include being involved as well as leading several different projects and together with other researchers establishing and validating new methods, applying these methods to clinical neurochemical studies and ultimately writing scientific articles. Assay methods include antibody-based methods such as ELISA, Simoa, but may also include additional techniques.
Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.
The applicant must have have documented knowledge on and experience of research on biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases.
Assessment
We are looking for a positive and driven postdoctoral student with extensive experience in research and laboratory work on biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases. In assessing the applicants' qualifications, a great deal of importance will be attached to research experience focusing on method development and implementation of new biomarkers. This should be documented though publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Good ability to independently process data and write scientific publications is essential as well as being otherwise flexible and able to work both in groups and independently. During assessment, account will be taken with respect to personal ability and qualifications.
Employment
The employment is a temporary position for 24 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date: as soon as possible or as agreed.
