  Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS), the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.

  The Postdoctoral Research Associate position is designed for the next generation of engineers /scientists who will excel in the application of fundamental science and engineering.

  Fields of Study/Capabilities include but not limited to:

  advanced modeling and simulation, corrosion, statistics, mathematics, mass spectroscopy, metallurgy, nuclear materials, inorganic salt synthesis, laser spectroscopy, ultrafast laser spectroscopy, hydrodynamics and fluid modeling, cyber security of industrial control systems, encryption, artificial intelligence, data analytics, artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic systems, molecular dynamics, machine learning.

  The position will require interaction with professional colleagues inside and outside of the Laboratory.

  Successful candidates will have:

  Critical thinking skills, data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability to integrate these skills into effective experimental design, execution and reporting.

  Capability to scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions.

  Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) technical results.

  Ability to demonstrate their scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications.

  Ability to demonstrate their capacity for advanced research approaches to solve complex problems.

  Willingness to work on a team dedicated to scientific discovery and its application to some of the most challenging problems facing our nation.

  The Post-Doctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible.

  Salary Range (annual)

  $69,876 - $98,829

  Basic Qualifications

  (Quantifiable; e.g. Three Years Experience, Bachelors Degree)

  Candidates with PhD. degrees (obtained within the last 3 years) in engineering / fundamental sciences (e.g., including, but not limited to physical and life sciences, material science, computer science and engineering, etc.)

  PhD. students with expected completion dates within the next 12 months will be considered (with documented proof of status from the educational institution)

  Candidate must understand and apply advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; and have working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
