Job Description
Organisation/Company: CNRS
Research Field: Physics
Researcher Profile: First Stage Researcher (R1)
Application Deadline: 16/03/2020 23:59 - Europe/Brussels
Location: France › VILLETANEUSE
Type Of Contract: Temporary
Job Status: Full-time
Hours Per Week: 35
Offer Starting Date: 01/04/2020
The successful applicant will participate to the following activities:
- Development of calibrated media for the prototype assessment;
- Design of a wearable housing for the sensor that can be fixed on the probe of a US medical scanner;
- Participation to the conception and the assessment of on-board electronics ;
- Measurements on calibrated media for the prototype assessment;
- Participation to in-vivo assessments.
The postdoctoral fellow will join the team "Optics in Random Media" (OMA) of the Laser Physics Laboratory (LPL). He/she will work under the supervision of Jean-Michel Tualle on the INCA project MALT (Multi-wave Acousto-optic imaging in Living Tissues – Plan Cancer 2014-2019 ).
This project aims to develop new kind of implementations for the acousto-optic imaging of biological tissue, targetting the realization of the first in-vivo images. Such images have indeed never been obtained up to now with the principle of acousto-optic imaging, which consists in exploiting the coupling between an ultrasonic (US) wave and the diffuse light in order to spatially tag the latter. Among the aims of this project, the consortium propose to implement a dedicated integrated circuit developed by the partner LPL for the detection of the tagged light through a statistical analysis of the speckle patterns. This circuit will have to be integrated on the probe of a US medical scanner, with an illumination system based on optical fibers, in order to allow in-vivo experimentation on the small animal. The partner LPL will have to develop a wearable housing that can be fixed on a US probe, and containing all the electronics and the optics required for the experiment. This partner will then have to assess this prototype, to develop image processing algorithms for efficient exploitation of the measured data and, finally, to participate to a in-vivo assessment of the device. The activities of the postdoctoral fellow will be part of this framework. It will be a short contract, with a duration of 4 to 5 months.
This activity will take place in the Laser Physics Laboratory (UMR 7538 CNRS-université Paris 13), in Villetaneuse, in the team "Optics in Random Media" (OMA). It is part of the INCA project MALT which gather the following partners:
- Institut Langevin, Paris (coordinator) ;
- LPL, Villetaneuse ;
- Laboratoire Aimé Cotton, Orsay ;
- Institut de Recherche Chimie Paris, Paris.
Eligibility criteria
The applicant must be a PhD in Physics: biomedical optics, numerical simulation, spectroscopy, lasers and optics, ...
He/she will have to actively participate in the development of this experimental activity and of all other aspects of this project:
- search and ordering of equipment;
- management, planning and prioritization of the research activity;
- students supervision;
- collaborations with the other partners of the project;
- participation to conferences and to papers writing.
