瑞典哥德堡大学神经科学方向博士后招聘
Job Description
Research and graduate education at the department of chemistry and molecular biology comprises a wide scientific field from the atomic and molecular levels all the way through cells to intact organisms. Much of the phenomena studied here impact on our natural environment and living systems. We participate in undergraduate programs in chemistry, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, biology, marine sciences, and pharmacy.
The Researcher will be part of Prof. Richard Neutze's research group . Within this group, we use various biochemical and biophysical methods to study the structure, function and dynamics of membrane proteins. In particular, we focus on new structural biological methods where x-ray lights from synchrotrons and XFEL plants help us describe proteins in detail when they work.
Job assignments
The main focus of the research project involves functional and biophysical studies of membrane proteins in C. elegans, in particular of ligand gated ion-channels. The researcher will perform characterization of these proteins through means of molecular biology, advanced light microscopy and biophysical techniques. The researcher is expected to present the results in publications. The position also involves the development of new techniques and the researcher needs to be capable of working independently and taking initiatives to drive the project self-sufficiently.
Qualifications
For this position the applicant must have multiple years of experience of working with neuroscience in C. elegans. To qualify as a Principal Research Engineer, the applicant must have completed a Swedish Doctoral degree or must have a foreign degree corresponding to a Swedish Doctoral degree. Excellent communicative skills are required, including fluency in oral and written English. Experience in characterization of neuronal receptors, electrophysiological techniques, advanced light microscopy and molecular biology techniques, such as cloning and gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 are desirable. The applicant should also have published several papers in renowned scientific journals.
Employment
Fixed term during a year, full time, 100% at the Department of Chemistry and Molecularbiology.
