Serves as investigator in charge of the effort to advance Overhauser-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (OMRI) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and imaging approaches for application for functional mapping of tumor microenvironment, including in vivo experiments in animal models of cancer developed and studied at the Health Science Center, Department of Biochemistry, West Virginia University. Duties will include testing and application of new paramagnetic probes in combination with EPR and OMRI modalities to visualize specific parameters of chemical tumor microenvironment such as oxygen, redox status, glutathione and interstitial inorganic phosphate. Duties will include obtaining preliminary data and contributing in the writing of manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and training students.

§ To develop Overhauser-enhanced MRI methodology for functional tissue mapping, in vivo.
§ To apply newly developed probes and imaging protocols in a mouse model of breast cancer using L-band EPR spectroscopy and OMRI.
§ Use the knowledge accumulated to extend functional imaging of tumor microenvironment.
§ Set up collaborations with known scientists in the field of functional biomedical imaging.
§ To train and direct students towards executing methodologies.
MANAGEMENT – 10%
