Postdoctoral Research Scholar Buck Institute
The lab of Jennifer Garrison at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging has an opening for postdoctoral scholars for a new project focused on ancient traits—phenotypes that arose long ago and are now fixed as differences between deeply diverged species. Our group, in collaboration with evolutionary biologist Rachel Brem, has uncovered striking differences betweenCaenhorabditis species in aging and stress resistance traits. New postdocs coming on board will use cutting-edge genomic mapping methods to identify the molecular basis of these ancient inter-species divergences, and to reconstruct their evolutionary histories. We are thus looking for applicants with expertise and/or interest in genomics and evolutionary biology for this exciting, newly funded project.
