Postdoctoral Training in Oral Health Research

Employer:

Location: Charleston County, South Carolina (US)

Salary: NIH Funding + benefits

Position Type: Full Time

Job Type: Postdoc

The Department of Oral Health Sciences at Medical University of South Carolina announces open positions for

Postdoctoral Training in
Oral Health Research

We seek strong candidates for postdoctoral training funded by T-COHR (Training in Craniofacial and Oral Health Research), an NIH T32 Training Grant. The training program provides a rich collaborative research environment that fosters interdisciplinary approaches to understanding how oral health research including oral cancer, periodontics and oral microbes and infections integrates into human health and disease. A description of the faculty and the program can be accessed via the website: http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/ohs/faculty/.

We seek an individual who desires interaction across a group of experts in the oral biology research to accentuate their postdoctoral traineeship and who can contribute creatively to enhance or extend the research program of one of the laboratories in the OHS group while building their expertise and reputation as a bridge to an independent-investigator career.  Value-added professional development and research collaborations across OHS laboratories and their graduate-and undergraduate students are therefore highly encouraged. The program has a strong history of generating many K-type awards and with new faculty positions.

To APPLY:  Candidates must be US citizens or US permanent residents.  This is an absolute requirement of a NIH training grant and is non-negotiable.  Please contact one of the trainers with open opportunities (Palanisamy, Westwater, Yilmaz Labs).  Please be prepared to discuss how you can contribute to the mentor's research program and how they can contribute to your training for a career in Oral health-related research. In addition to contacting potential mentors, please submit a single PDF file to Ms. Loraine Roylance (roylanlf@musc.edu)  to include your CV, 3 representative publications, a one page statement of your long-term career or professional interest, and 1 one page proposal of intended research project to be pursued with your preferred faculty trainer.  Three letters of reference should be directly sent by the writer not the candidate and must provide e-mail or telephone contact information. We encourage women and members of underrepresented minority groups to apply. Medical University of South Carolina is an equal employment opportunity employer.

APPLICATIONS will be reviewed immediately and until the position is filled.  We anticipate a start date no later than July 1, 2016.
