National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health
12 months fixed-term
The National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health (NCC-WCH) is a multidisciplinary health services research team. It is part of the Quality and Knowledge Directorate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) which is commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the NHS in England and Wales.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for researchers who wish to further develop their systematic reviewing skills over a wide range of study designs in the context of developing NICE clinical guidelines. Supervised by a senior member of the technical development team you will contribute to all aspects of the systematic reviewing process and conduct complex analysis.
A relevant postgraduate qualification (for example, an MSc or PhD in health services research, epidemiology or medical statistics) or a medical degree with experience or aptitude for health services research, and experience of systematic reviewing with excellent quantitative skills and experience of meta-analysis are essential for this post. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in: conducting network meta-analysis; synthesising research evidence into concise reports; and applying GRADE methodology. Successful applicants may also contribute to the work programmes of two other National Collaborating Centres which develop mental health and cancer guidelines for NICE.
The College is dedicated to raising standards of training and education in the medical specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology, delivered through the work of its members. Located in pleasant offices overlooking Regent’s Park, the College offers a friendly working environment with an excellent benefits package that includes flexible working hours, free lunches, subsidised gym membership, season ticket loan, first class pension scheme and generous annual leave entitlement.
