Postdoctoral positions in cell biology, electrophysiology, and biophysics are available in the laboratory of Dr. A. Pakhomov of Research Center for Bioelectrics at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Research will focus on the effects of electrical stimulation and membrane permeabilization by nano- and picosecond duration electric pulses, and includes studies of nanopore conductance, resealing, impact on cell physiology and viability, and medical applications in cardiac stimulation and cancer ablation. A PhD or an equivalent degree in biology, biophysics, physiology, or related discipline is required. Applicants with experience in patch clamp and live cell fluorescent microscopy are especially encouraged to apply. Knowledge of biochemical and molecular biology methods and scientific writing skills are preferred. The position is for one year, available immediately, and renewable for subsequent years depending on the availability of funding.
