摘要:

A postdoctoral position is available August 1st, 2015 in the laboratory of Dr. Natalie R. Gassman at the University of South Alabama Mitchell Cancer Institute (USA-MCI) in Mobile, AL, USA.

The laboratory will examine the response of DNA repair pathways to damage induced by exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). EDCs have been demonstrated to alter DNA repair capacity, induce epigenetic changes, and promote resistance to chemotherapeutics. Our objective is to examine exposures of EDCs and identify alterations in the DNA damage response and DNA repair systems. Understanding the mechanisms for the alterations in DNA repair capacity and identify the critical checkpoints that are being activated for apoptosis evasion and increased cell proliferation will allow future therapeutic intervention for EDC exposed individuals. We will use advanced confocal and super resolution microscopy techniques in mouse and human cell lines, along with molecular biology and cell biology techniques to study these exposures.
A highly motivated individual with a strong background in cell biology is sought to join a young and dynamic research group.

Qualifications:
PhD degree in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry or related field.
The project will require standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, protein expression and purification, immunoblotting), cell line cultivation and maintenance, and confocal microscopy. Experience working with enzyme kinetics, toxicology, and/or super resolution microscopy is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities:
Design and execute experiments examining DNA damage response changes after exposures to EDCs or exogenous DNA damaging agents.
Author manuscripts for quality publications.
Attend and present at national meetings and collaborate across groups at MCI.
