Post-Doctoral Fellow - Autophagy & Molecular Mechanisms of Fatty Liver Diseases : Indianapolis, IN, United States

A position for post-doctoral fellows is immediately available to study fundamental mechanisms of autophagy in tissue injury, metabolic disturbance and cell biology. Autophagy is a rapidly evolving field and is critical to many cellular functions. We are studying the role of autophagy in liver pathophysiology using transgenic and knockout mice. We are especially interested in signaling regulation of autophagy in the liver under metabolic stress (alcohol and non-alcohol fatty liver diseases) and the impact on liver injury, metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. At the subcellular level, we are working on the role of mitochondria, lysosome and lipid droplets for their interactions with the autophagy and apoptosis machinery. A multi-disciplinary approach is taken with a focus on molecular biology, cellular imaging and animal experimentation. Additional information can be found at http://pathology.iupui.edu/research/research-projects/current-research/xiao-ming-yin-md-phd/.
Requirements:
A doctoral degree in biomedical sciences is required. We are looking for people who are passionate about the projects they are working with, are creative, motivated and independent with a solid technical background in molecular biology, cellular imaging and/or transgenic/knockout animal experimentation.
The positions are renewable depending on productivity and performance. Career development is strongly encouraged. The salary is scaled with NIH standard and the benefits are excellent. Applicants should send a cover letter, an updated CV including publication list and name of three academic references to:
