POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATES | SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY,MICROBIOLOGY, AND MICROBIOME ENGINEERING

The Lu Laboratory (Synthetic Biology Group in the Research Laboratory of Electronics, Department of Biological Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, MIT) seeks multiple dynamic, self-motivated, and creative postdoctoral associates with expertise in synthetic biology, microbiology, and/or microbiome sciences.

Research opportunities include high-throughput studies to resensitize drug-resistant pathogens to antibiotics and to discover novel antimicrobial combination therapies; engineering microbes as non-invasive sensors and therapeutics in the microbiome for human diseases; creating novel tools for precision manipulation of the microbiome.

Postdoctoral associate will work closely with Professor Timothy Lu, members of the Lu Laboratory, and collaborators at the Broad Institute and the MIT-MGH Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics. Researchers will also be integrated into the vibrant Synthetic Biology Center at MIT, which includes an interdisciplinary set of scientists and engineers focused on synthetic biology as an emerging engineering discipline for probing and understanding complex biological systems.

REQUIREMENTS: Extensive experience in synthetic biology, microbiology, and/or microbiome sciences. Scientific independence, strong communication skills, and the ability to integrate with an interdisciplinary research program are essential.
